Info Commons

The Shelby White and Leon Levy Information Commons, located on the first floor of Central Library, is a natural extension of what BPL has always offered—opportunities for freelancers, students, job seekers and lifelong learners to access innovative library services. With a focus on technology, media and culture, our resources and learning opportunities reflect the diverse needs and spirit of our community.

Plug in your laptop or use an Info Commons iMac or PC to get your work done. The iMacs include access to Adobe Creative Cloud and other multimedia production software.  There is an amateur recording studio, equipped with an iMac editing workstation, DSLR camera, microphone, and more equipment. You can also reserve a meeting room (view all policies for Central Library meeting rooms) or time to use our digital conversion equipment to convert your analog media—VHS videocassettes, audio cassettes and vinyl records—to digital files. Learn more about our tech resources.

The Info Commons celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2023, and our staff created a zine to mark the occasion! Get a sneak peek at the zine and stop by the Info Commons to take home a copy. And check out our booklist, Disruptive Technologies.
