Brooklyn Public Library Adult Learning Centers provide free innovative educational programs for adult learners and speakers of other languages.

Through books, technology and interactive classroom instruction taught by professional and friendly instructors and tutors, adults build the skills needed to meet their personal, educational and employment goals. Other Brooklyn Public Library Learning Centers are located at the Central, Eastern Parkway, Flatbush and New Lots libraries.

Groups and classes are for participants 17 years and older who are functioning below the high school level. Emphasis is on reading, writing, and HSE preparation. All programs and classes are available mornings, afternoons, evenings and Saturdays.

Young Adult Literacy Program at Bedford Library

Our Young Adult Literacy Program (YALP) is a full-time work readiness program designed to meet the specific needs of young adults ages 17 to 24. Courses take place right here in the Bedford Learning Center. Find out more about YALP here.
