Your default PIN is your birthday, with two digits for the month and two digits for the day. (For example, if your birthday is May 25, your default password is 0525.) If that does not work, you can reset your PIN here.

We accept book donations at Central Library only. Books should be dropped off at the Returns Desk on the first floor during Central's open hours. Donations cannot be picked up by the library or delivered to the loading dock. All books donated go to Thrift Books, who sells the books and returns a portion of the proceeds to benefit the library.

Brooklyn Public Library is open to hosting programs from individuals and organizations that support the Library's mission of providing the people of Brooklyn with free and open access to information for education, recreation and reference. All programs must be open to the public and free of charge. Complete this form to suggest a program. You may also rent our spaces for private or paid events.

New York State residents must renew their library cards in person at a BPL branch. If you are unable to come in person, you may apply for an eCard, which provides access to ebooks and Flipster and is valid for one year only, on our website.
