This summer at Brooklyn Public Library, you’re eligible to win prizes from Brooklyn businesses including a membership to the Green-Wood Cemetery and the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, plus gift cards to local bookstores like Books Are Magic, if you read for 24 hours. Pick Up an Adult Summer Reading Tracker to Get Involved
Snag an Adult Summer Reading Tracker at your local BPL branch to keep track of how long you spend reading this summer. Once you read for 24 hours and return your filled out booklet to your local branch, you’ll be entered into a raffle to win prizes. You must turn in your booklet by August 24 to be eligible.

Join Us for Our Sips & Scholars Series
At BPL, summer reading goes beyond the page—we partnered with the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research to bring you engaging discussions at bars and outdoor spaces across Brooklyn. Learn about C.L.R. James’s theory of self-liberation in a community garden or unwind at a comedy club while hearing how politics animate our dream life, according to Freud. The series runs through August, so check out the full lineup of lectures to discover one that piques your interest.
Celebrate All You’ve Read This Summer at Our Closing Festival
To close out a summer of reading and learning, meet us on the plaza at Central Library on August 29 for a day of fun, bookish activities. Try your hand at bookbinding or linocut and block printing, participate in a silent reading party, and play Bingo. All free of charge, of course!
