Sips & Scholars: Freud’s Political Dreaming with Danielle Drori
Class is in session this summer! We’re partnering with the Brooklyn Institute of Social Research to offer the second annual Sips & Scholars series, free lectures set in bars, parks, cafes, and restaurants all over Brooklyn. This session, entitled: "Freud’s Political Dreaming" will be led by Professor Danielle Drori.
Freud is best known for his theories of the individual psyche, but he is also a writer of the political. Even The Interpretation of Dreams, arguably Freud’s most personal work, suggests that our psychic lives are animated by our political realities and vice versa. What can dreams tell us about political fears and wishes, and how are political fears and wishes worked through in our dreams?
Everyone is welcome! Come ready to learn and open to discuss interesting questions together. Advanced reading is not required, but we encourage you to check out the suggested booklist.
