Hop into Spring with BPL
Hop into spring with Brooklyn Public Library! We are bringing the library outdoors - to Cooper Park, at the corner of Maspeth and Morgan Avenues.
Join staff from your local branches (DeKalb, Washington Irving, Leonard, Bedford, and Greenpoint, plus more) for a safe and fun festival in the park. You can make or renew a library card at our Bookmobile, and even check out books! Brooklyn Public Library's own Test and Trace staff will be providing masks and information about COVID and the vaccines. We'll have tables with information about library services and summer reading, plus the following community partners:
- Friends of Cooper Park
- Plants for the People BK
- Clean Bushwick Initiative
- Greenpoint Tree Corps
- The Bushwick Archive (2 - 4pm)
- Voter registration with 18by
Throughout the day (12 - 4pm) we'll have a scavenger hunt to help you explore the park! Plants for the People BK will be offering giveaway plants and pots to paint, with information on plant care. Additional activities are on the following schedule:
- 12 - 12:30pm storytime with Leonard library children's librarian Ms. Elzbieta
- 1 - 2pm park clean-up with Clean Bushwick Initiative
- 2 - 2:30pm bilingual (Spanish/English) storytime with Mariella Price
- 2 - 2:30pm tree identification walk with Greenpoint Tree Corps
- 3:30 - 4pm music with BombaYo
No registration is required. Masks are required (ages 2 and up) and physical distancing will be enforced. The festival will be based in the center of the park, by the bathrooms. Please feel free to email llebwohl@bklynlibrary.org with any questions!
