Here are a few internship and training opportunities for teens!  

The Guggenheim: Art Detectives
Spend some time at the Guggenheim Museum this summer! Art Detectives is a FREE program for NYC high school students that are interested in the arts and sciences! During the month of July, this summer program is a unique opportunity to study with a variety of museum conservators and scientists working in the fields of art conservation and cultural heritage science. MetroCards cards and snacks will be provided for the in-person meetings. Upon successful completion of the program students will receive a $960 STIPEND for their participation. This program is open to all students currently in 10th or 11th grade. Apply here by May 1st at 11:59pm and reach out to teenprograms@guggenheim.org with any questions!

Tech Scholars: Web Design

Explore important contributions by underrepresented women in history, then code and create a website to amplify a woman’s story as you learn HTML and CSS.

Tech Scholars: Web Design II 
August 15 - 19 2022, 10:00 am – 3:00 pm ET
Take your coding and history skills to the next level! Deepen your HTML and CSS skills and learn JavaScript to create an online exhibition! Completion of Tech Scholars: Web Design necessary for this program.

Poetic Theater Productions & Brooklyn Public Library: Untold Stories
Calling all queer (LGBTQ+) teens and military veterans for a free storytelling workshop series! This special collaboration between Brooklyn Heights Library and Poetic Theater Productions brings together LGBTQ+ veterans and young adults over eight weeks to connect and converse, creating new written work based on these conversations, culminating in an in-person Final Share live. Apply here by May 3.  

Van Cortlandt Park Alliance: Paid Summer Internship for rising HS Juniors and Seniors
Urban Eco-Teen Internship Program is entering its 11th year of offering hands-on urban environmental studies, science and restoration work in Van Cortlandt Park. This unique summer internship partners with Manhattan College to lend students the opportunity to earn 3 college credits tuition free!  Students spend seven weeks working outdoors and exploring "green" careers by working alongside professionals and learning the science behind the work.

Arts Connection: Map Free City
Map Free City is a FREE summer program that runs 3 days a week throughout July. Teens visit arts and cultural spaces in all 5 boroughs and write about their experiences. Their work is published in our online journal, The JAR. Join us this summer for an all in-person Map Free City! Apply here by May 29, 2022. 

The LGBTQ Community Center: Scholarships
Applicants for all Center scholarships must be 23 or younger and be a Center programs or services participant. Preference is given to applicants who have had a longer tenure as active participants in Center programs. You may join the Center Youth program to become eligible for Center Youth scholarships. If you are not currently connected to Center Youth, please visit us Monday through Friday between 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. ET at 208 West 13 St in Manhattan to find out about programs we offer that may meet your needs and interests, or contact youth@gaycenter.org for more information.  Youth of color and trans, gender non-conforming, non-binary, two-spirit, intersex youth and youth with multiple marginalized identities are highly encouraged to apply. All applications are due by Sunday, June 5, 2022.

Brooklyn Public Library: Teen Techies
Do you love technology and your library? Want to make a difference in your community? Looking to build your resume and gain valuable work and leadership experience? Apply to BPL's Teen Techies program! By participating, you'll learn new computer skills in a two-week fall technology institute, and then share those skills by helping patrons use library computers. You'll also assist library staff with computer troubleshooting and computer training workshops for the public. Ages 14-18. Participants receive stipends. Apply here by June 24, 2022. 

Whitney Museum of American Art: Open Studio for Teens
Teens are invited to Open Studio for Teens, a free art-making program on select Fridays. Work with contemporary artists to create and learn new techniques with art projects inspired by the Whitney’s exhibitions and collection.
