This month, there are two paid internships open for applications from the Museum of Arts and Design, and a writing contest with prize money from Youth Communication!
MAD (Museum of Arts and Design)
MAD has two paid internships: RECESS and Artslife. Both applications are open.
RECESS is a paid intensive, focusing on crafting narrative, public speaking, and research. Teens will have the opportunity to create audio tour materials for the permanent collection. There are two separate sessions, one in February and one in April during NYC public school breaks. In addition to $15 per hour, MAD provides Metrocards. Here’s the link!
Artslife is a paid, 6-week deep dive into careers in the arts, the past, present, and future of museums and how today’s youth can change them from the inside. Participants will create art, work with artists, visit other cultural institutions, develop tours and podcasts, and plan events. In addition to $15 per hour, MAD provides Metrocards. Here’s the link!
Youth Communication: Teen Writing Contest
Youth Communication is sponsoring a writing contest for young people. Every three months, we will highlight five recent articles and ask readers to write a response to the author of a story. Tell them how you related to their story, what lessons you learned, or other ways the story impacted you. We will choose three winners with prizes of $150 (1st prize), $75 (2nd prize), and $50 (3rd prize.)
The deadline for submissions is January 7, 2022; enter here.
