Adulting is Hard: Graphic Novel Book Club
Greetings, Fellow Graphic Novel Enthusiasts! AiHGNBC is back for 2025 and we're beginning our new tenure at the Library for Arts and Culture. We'll be starting at 4pm, roughly 1 hour after the branch closes to the public so REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Call the branch if you have access issues the day of the event.
Whether you only read Graphic Novels or haven't picked up a comic since the Sunday funnies, this club's for you! You don't have to read all texts listed below, but come ready to engage regardless. If wait times for books are long, we don't mind if you use your other library cards to procure books. We spread library love: it's the Brooklyn way.
This Month's Theme: This will be the first after-public hours event at the new Library for Art and Culture. We've been easing into programs here, so the theme for this session straddles Black History Month and Women's History Month. As copies might be tight, this month's session will include a bit of show-and-tell since everyone won't have a chance to read everything.
Shook! : a Black Horror Anthology (2 print copies available; ebook available via Comics Plus with library card)
Embodied: An Intersectional Feminist Comics Poetry Anthology (3 print copies available; ebook available via Comics Plus with library card)
Voices that Count: A Comics Anthology by Women (5 copies available)
Extra Credit: Black Comics: Politics of Race and Representation (1 e-book copy available)
~See you soon
