The New Lots Literacy Zone Team will host a Benefits Enrollment Event with NYC Department of Social Services (DSS) on Friday, January 31st from 10am to 3pm at the New Lots Learning Center (665 New Lots Ave, 2nd Floor, Brooklyn, NY 11207). No appointment is needed, but we advise walk-ins to come early. Register so that you can receive a reminder. Light refreshments will be available.

Participants at this event will receive assistance with applying for Fair Fares (discounted MetroCard for subway and bus fares), SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), Cash Assistance, HEAP (Home Energy Assistance Program), and more.

To complete the application you must have the following required documents:

  • Proof of Identity and Age

  • Proof of Address

  • Proof of Household Income

If you don't have the documents available at the moment, a DSS representative will contact you for that information so that you can complete the application at a later time.
