Red Hook Writers Workshop

FREE 6-week creative writing workshop taught by Brooklyn novelist Jenny Fran Davis. Come fine-tune your writing chops, gain a deeper understanding of plot and characters, and learn the ins and outs of pacing. This class is limited to 10 people and is a great opportunity to meet other writers and recieve feedback on whatever you might be tinkering with, whether it’s fiction, memoir, or non-fiction. Open to adults 18+
The workshop is being hosted offsite at the Red Hook Record Store, 360 Van Brunt Street.
Taught by Jenny Fran Davis, who is the author of Everything Must Go (a YA novel) and Dykette, which was named a Best Book of 2023 by The New Yorker.
Featuring special guests Eskor David Johnson and Sarah Thankam Mathews.
Eskor David Johnson is a writer from Trinidad, Tobago, and the USA. His writing has appeared in BOMB Magazine and MCSweeney's Quarterly Concern. His debut novel, Pay As You Go, was a finalist for the Center for Fiction Best New Novel 2023 prize. He lives in New York City
Sarah Thankam Mathews is the author of All This Could Be Different, which was shortlisted for the Discover Prize, the Aspen Words Literary Prize, and the 2022 National Book Award in Fiction. Mathews' debut novel was also a New York Times Editor's Choice and named Best Book of the Year by NPR, Vogue, Vulture, Los Angeles Times, TIME, Slate, and Buzzfed. Mathews grew up between Oman and India, immigrating to the United States at seventeen.
