Gravesend Library

Gravesend Library opened in 1962. In 2001, the branch underwent a $1.5 million renovation that included new lighting, furniture, shelving, art objects and public computers. Gravesend library  hosts a monthly book discussion club for adults. Gravesend serves its diverse community with large collections of Russian, Chinese and other multilingual materials.

Coming Soon: Infrastructure Upgrades at Gravesend Library
In Spring 2025, the New York City Department of Design and Construction (DDC) will launch an infrastructure project to address longstanding flooding and outdated infrastructure issues at Gravesend Library. The scope includes facade work, window replacement, and other sitework around the branch to prevent water accumulation and infiltration. In addition to this DDC project, BPL will replace the decades-old rooftop heating and cooling units.
