BPL Outdoors BPL Presents creative writing humanities and art University Open Air

Dreams come in many forms, from the sacred to the profane - and some go farther. Have you had a dream so impactful that it has lingers in your memory for days, months, years? The dream sharing tradition has been lost to many in our western societies, but that has not diminished the power of dreams to transform us. Come share your strangest dream in a one-on-one twenty-five minute dream sharing session with Alisa Minyukova of The Dream Mapping Project in preparation for the publication of the "The Brooklyn Dream Handbook", a zine dedicated to group exploration of the symbols, archetypes and parabolic’s of the Brooklyn diverse dreaming community.

While walk-in appointments will be available, we recommend that you make a timed appointment. Please email available time range to vbaish@bklynlibrary.org.

Alisa Minyukova is a Russian born artist, researcher and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. She is co-creator of the Dream Mapping Project which works to bridge dream science with the creative process resulting in an ongoing series of collaborative art, film and performance works. Her drawings, film and mixed media installations explore Slavic and Jewish mythology, symbols of the collective unconscious and that which is caste out of awareness. Her research covers the topics of memories, dreams, emigration, heritage and the loss thereof and the exploration of the human condition by way of ancestral memory. Her current creative focus is on Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the collective memory of war.

Check out all of this semester's UOA programs here.

*In cases of rain, classes will be either moved to the Prospect Park Boathouse or canceled. Registered patrons will be notified by email on the morning of each course day and are also encouraged to check the UOA webpage and BPL Presents’ Facebook and Twitter pages for updates.
