Textile and Tapestry Workshop Series (SESSION 1: WET FELTING)

Fri, Aug 8 2025
2:00 pm – 4:45 pm
The Garden on Sullivan Street

arts and crafts fiber arts

This 4-week workshop series, taught by teaching artist Zelda Mazor-Freedman, will explore the art of textiles and culminate in a group project, making a tapestry for the Red Hook Interim Library. You will learn basic wet felting, natural dying, sewing, beading, and embroidery techniques. Each participant will then work in individual felted squares, that will be sewn together to make a mosaic tapestry.

Each session will take place on Friday afternoons in August, and each class requires registration. Those interested in the workshop are encouraged to sign up for all four sessions, but if you cannot make all of them that is okay!

SESSION 1: WET FELTING

The first session of the workshop series will take place in the garden on Sullivan Street, behind the church, and will involve creating felted shapes using water, felt, and needles.
