Explore our world! In the Science in the House series teens get a chance to meet with all kinds of interesting scientists and other people.  

Hear their stories and learn more about their lives and their work. Discover what life as a scientist is like!

Meet Elias Oakes! Astrophysicist!

 

"I'm a born-and-raised New Yorker who fell in love with astronomy 

despite our lack of stars. As a PhD candidate at the University of Connecticut, 

I'm working with collaborators around the world to study how stars form 

from giant clouds of gas and dust in space.

 

I can't wait to talk with you about stars, galaxies, telescopes, 

and all things space!"

Usually the Science in the House events are videoconferenced with scientists from around the world. 

This year, Elias will be coming in person to help us kick of the new school year of exciting Science in the House series,

and to help launch our upcoming Stargazing and Astronomy Lovers events, coming soon!
