The 2025 Teen Writing Contest & Ned Vizzini Teen Writing Prize is underway! Come grab a writing kit to help you develop your ideas for poetry and prose. 

Get ready for the writing contest here at the Flatbush branch with our special creative writing group! 

If you're a teen writer from New York City, grades 6-12, you are invited to submit your poetry and prose to be judged by a panel of BPL's expert young adult librarians for creativity, style and voice.

Sharpen story telling skills, explore creative writing prompts, and recieve feedback from the librarian and your peers. Whether you write poetry, short stories. personal essays, or novels-in-progress, this group is your space to create, grow and prepare your entry for the upcoming contest!

 

Submissions will be accepted from March 1-31.
