Routes to Expression: Write-Inn Poetry Workshop with Amyra León
To celebrate National Poetry Month this year, we've partnered with Creative Soul House to host an exciting series on poetry and self-expression. Creative Soul House is an educational consulting company that curates community-development programs, workshops and social events for youth and adults.
Join us for a Creative Soul House original “Routes To Expression” poetry workshop led by author Amyra León centered on using poetry to find your voice. All experience levels welcome! Feel free to bring a piece you are currently working on or try out poetry for the first time.
Poetry plays a significant role in connecting us across differences. The art form requires the writer to submit to vulnerability and honesty, Through the act of sharing deep, personal truths, poetry creates a space where others can also feel safe to be open and authentic. “Routes To Expression” explores how to use poetry as a tool for self discovery. The workshop offers a journey into one's own emotions, thoughts, and experiences. Together, we will peel back layers to reveal a deeper understanding of who we are beyond assumption.
After the workshop, everyone is encouraged to perform their work alongside BPL staff poets at the Routes to Expression: Poetry Showcase & Open-Mic on April 24th, 6-7:30 PM at Korkscrew Bistro (165 Tompkins Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11206).
