Park Slope, Auditorium

humanities and art poetry

Omayma Khayat, an avid reader, writer and poet, splits her creative time between her passion for the arts and her passion for her career as Director of Project Management in the printing and installation industry. Her poetry focuses on the pull and tug of culture, identity and acceptance, whether it’s acceptance of herself or who she is by others. Her identities are as countless as the stars, from writer and poet, to mother, wife, Muslim, American, Lebanese, American Lebanese to woman, she is never just one. Her poetry explores these identities and helps her find her space in an otherwise crowded universe.

A newly formed love of short stories delving into the darkness of the human condition has catapulted her into writing from the side of the unknown, the detestable.
