Brooklyn Public Library’s Center for Brooklyn History is the host of NYC History Day! NYCHD 2023 is the regional contest for National History Day (NHD). New York City middle and high schoolers get to do original research on a historical topic of their choice and make their own exhibition, performance, documentary, website, or paper. Winners from NYCHD will have a chance to compete on the state and potentially national history day levels. All participants will be able to gain important research skills, connect with amazing New York City cultural institutions, and have fun!

This virtual workshop will help students to understand the difference between Primary and Secondary sources. Library representatives from all three New York system will teach how to use databases to find useful sources for History Day projects. This workshop is part of a New York City History Day series to help prepare students and teachers for the competition. Participants are encouraged to attend all the corresponding workshops, but they can be attended discretely.

We hope to see you there! In the meantime, check out our NYCHD website to learn about the contest. You can always ask us questions by emailing nychd@bklynlibrary.org.
