Greetings, Fellow Graphic Novel Enthusiasts! AiHGNBC is mixing it up this month, by changing the date and location. In honor of the Freedom to Read Day of Action Rally at the Central Library's plaza from 11am to 2pm, we'll be meeting on Saturday, October 19th at 3pm, in the Business and Career Center, Classroom.
This Month's Theme: Banned Books! We're no strangers to reading banned books in this book club, but we figured we'd take another look at some of our favorite graphic novel authors and artists through the lens of book banning.
This One Summer by Jillian Tamaki and Mariko Tamaki (17 print copies)
The Fire Never Goes Out by ND Stevenson (14 print copies, 1 ebook)
Y, The Last Man Book 1/Volume 1 by Brian K. Vaughan (4 print copies; 2 ebooks)
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: Black Dossier by Alan Moore (2 print copies)
So whether you only read Graphic Novels or haven't picked up a comic since the Sunday funnies, this club's for you! You don't have to read all texts listed below, but come ready to engage regardless. If wait times for books are long, we don't mind if you use your other library cards to procure books. We spread library love: it's the Brooklyn way.
~See you soon
