Mental Health First Aid for Adults teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions

The New Lots Literacy Zone in partnership with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will be providing a free certification course for Mental Health First Aid focusing on adult mental health. 

This 8 hour long course covers Mental Health First Aid for Adults, teaches people how to recognize signs of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and older, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide a person toward appropriate care if necessary. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addiction.

Participants get a 3 year Nationally recognized Certification. Mental Health First Aid is included on the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP).

Registration is required for this program. Your registrations is only confirmed once staff reaches out to you. Registration is limited as well.
