Rain, rain, go away

A black and white image of a treelined street flooded with water

I don't know about you but I'm pretty sick of rain - and we haven't even reached the storied April showers yet. Regardless, I take solace in the fact that rain-flooded streets are nothing new in Brooklyn, as this circa 1910 lantern slide by Ralph Irving Lloyd proves. Dr. Ralph Irving Lloyd (1875-1969) was a Brooklyn ophthalmologist and an avid amateur photographer. Our collection of Ralph Irving Lloyd lantern slides (V1981.015) consist of roughly 400 lantern slides of buildings and streets all over New York City. The particular street pictured here is unidentified, but to me it looks like it could be in Southern Brooklyn, perhaps in Midwood or Ditmas Park. What do you think?

To me it looks like E. 17th based on the width of the street. I'd guess somewhere around Ditmas Park West or Ditmas Park. Maybe near Glenwood? When was the mall built?
