Romance Novels to Read If You Love Bridgerton

While February is the month of love, it was the love we were feeling in December that was keeping us warm when we watched Netflix’s wildly popular, Bridgerton. The TV show is based on Julia Quinn’s series of the same name and while it was published 20 years ago, it’s getting some new love with the popularity of the show. If you’re looking to continue the fun you’ll find something to love on this list if you loved Bridgerton.  Plus, the warm fuzzy feelings you get from reading a romance novel are just the thing to get you through the rest of winter. 

The Duke Who Didn’t by Courtney Milan

While Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series takes us to the ballrooms of the Georgian and Regency periods, Courtney Milan’s The Duke Who Didn’t takes us to the countryside and the estate of the Duke of Lansing. Three years ago, Jeremy Wentworth, the Duke of Lansing, broke Miss Chloe Fong’s heart when he disappeared after she told him she needed him to take their relationship seriously. However, the boy who couldn’t take anything seriously three years ago is now ready to be the man who is willing to play any tricks to win back Chloe. 

Secrets of a Summer Night by Lisa Kleypas

Lisa Kleypas, like Julia Quinn, is another staple of the historical romance novel genre and her much-loved Wallflower series begins with Secrets of a Summer Night. Annabelle Peyton has high hopes for a rich husband to save her family. But her most ardent prospect is Simon Hunt, who wants her as his mistress, not his wife. However as they both try to outmaneuver one another, they find their feelings growing to love after all. 

Roomies by Christina Lauren

If you love the marriage of convenience element of the first season of Bridgerton, you’ll love the modern take found in Roomies by Christina Lauren. Holland Bakker has observed Calvin, the musician performing on a subway platform, for months. When she finally talks to him and tries to get him to audition for her uncle’s musical, she learns  his student visa expired years ago and he risks being deported. Impulsively, Holland decides to marry him. While the marriage started out as an arrangement, feelings soon begin to grow and that it stopped being pretend a long time ago.

To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han is another book adaptation that Netflix has lovingly adapted. The last installment in Lara Jean’s journey to find love just hit the streaming platform on February 12 and now that it’s over, it’s the perfect time to dive into the book series that inspired the movies to revisit the characters we loved.
