Here's what BookMatch Teen has been geeking out over this week, including haircuts, conspiracies, video games and new routines!

Love, Victor- This binge-worthy Hulu original series is a spin-off of Becky Albertalli’s beloved book, Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda, and the movie version, Love, Simon. A sweet watch: it follows a high school student as he navigates sexual orientation, issues at home, and other things teens know well.

Funky Quarantine Haircuts- How many teens have taken to new snips and shaves during this odd home-bound time? Judging by TikTok users, it’s too many to count. Shaved heads and new spins on mullets and mohawks are super popular right now. Don’t worry mom, it grows back!

Making New Routines- Some are using all this extra free time for productivity. One idea to better yourself at home is to create new methods of organization, planning, and daily routines. Find what feels good!

Conspiracies and Crimes- Delving into online theories about dark happenings, such as the popular Wayfair scandal, is a huge interest for teens right now. Seeking truth and justice, many push for investigation, call out corrupt corporate schemes, and bring attention to important issues, like child trafficking and sexual abuse.

Bullet Journals- This form of journaling is amazing for organization, relieving stress, and expressing creativity. It’s a neat and customizable method to schedule your day, write about topics of interest, etc.!

Vladimir Putin- One political figure who is in the center of discussion online, particularly on TikTok, is Vladimir Putin. He’s definitely a polarizing leader… join the discourse if you dare!

Hannibal- This psychological thriller series is based upon the novels by Thomas Harris. The show, which focuses on an FBI agent Will Graham and his investigation of a cannibalistic serial killer, Hannibal Lecter, received critical acclaim.

Video Games- Another huge quarantine pastime for Gen Z  is video games.  Animal Crossing: New Horizons serves as a much needed escape from the monotony of indoor life and stress of the world right now. Super Smash Bros., Overwatch, and Fortnite are really big due to the increase in game streaming on platforms like Twitch. Minecraft has seen a huge resurgence in popularity since the pandemic began as well!
