Social Support Services & Benefits Assistance
The Social Work Program provides social support referrals and benefits assistance at Public Library by appointment. Social work support and referrals are available for:
- Housing Assistance
- Food Assistance
- Employment Assistance
- Health Insurance Assistance
- Mental Health/Counseling Referral
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis (a time of intense difficulty, distress, or trouble), please call NYC Well at 1-888-NYC-WELL (1-888-692-9355) to speak with a crisis counselor.
If you are experiencing a mental health emergency requiring immediate attention, please go to the nearest emergency room or call 9-1-1 immediately.

Our Social Work Program Coordinator is available to work with you one-on-one, remotely by phone or video conference through Zoom or in-person at Central Library (10 Grand Army Plaza, Brooklyn, NY 11238) by appointment, to help connect you to the services and resources that you need.
