Do you or someone you know have hospital bills that you can’t afford? Learn about the financial assistance programs available at every hospital in New York State.

Attorney Rose Gasner and public health professional Aviva Goldstein are leading the all-volunteer and free initiative called Heal the Debt.

On Thursday, May 14, 2026, they will host a short workshop to introduce this program and will be available for one-on-one assistance afterward to help you apply for debt relief. If you're interested in the one-on-one support, please bring your medical bills.

Eligible patients typically include those who earn $62,600 or less as individuals or $128,600 or less for a family of four. Some hospitals are more flexible, and you may qualify even if you have a higher income. These medical debt relief programs support both insured and uninsured patients, regardless of their immigration status.

Please register online or at the Spring Creek Library information desk in advance, or call (718) 257-6571.
