Night in the Library

The Sky Above Brooklyn – The Philosophy of the Sublime

On Saturday, March 8, 2025 at 7 pm, Night in the Library returns with The Sky Above Brooklyn – The Philosophy of the Sublime

We are no longer accepting RSVPs for this event, but we encourage you to come to Central Library and we will admit patrons as capacity allows.

Don't be alone with your thoughts.

Night in the Library is an after-hours invitation to discussions, performances, and screenings that celebrate the free flow of ideas and the company of others.

The Sky Above Brooklyn –The Philosophy of the Sublime reminds us that the reality we experience is only a small part of a much bigger picture.  Programs will introduce fresh ways of thinking about how to navigate the world around us with renewed attention, sensitivity, and curiosity.

Join us for thought-provoking programs and presentations from the Brooklyn Institute for Social Research, the dancers Baye & Asa, the ACLU's Ben Wizner, authors Edwidge Danticat, Darryl Pinckney, Alissa Quart, Edwin Frank, Sarah Lewis and Molly Crabapple, mathematician Manil Suri, reporter Hamilton Nolan, artist and musician Laurie Anderson. All programs are free, with books, food, and refreshments available for purchase.

NIGHT IN THE LIBRARY is made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.

Generous support is provided by The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation.
