Central Library is holding a name contest for the bronze Eagle statue in our grand lobby—and we need your help. The sculpture came from the headquarters of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle newspaper. The records of the newspaper have been at the Library since 1957 so the Eagle is kind of special around here. Over the years, the Eagle has nested in many places. It was loaned to the Brooklyn Public Library in 1997 by the Brooklyn Historical Society, and they’ve kindly made the sculpture a permanent gift to BPL this year.
