Rugby Library underwent a comprehensive renovation and reopened in July 2021. The library received new mechanical systems, an interior gut renovation, large windows to allow generous natural light, a brand new opening day book collection, and a WiFi booster antenna that will extend free internet access to neighboring homes and businesses.
The upgrades to the building include:
- A new heating and cooling system, including a new Building Management System (BMS) which will provide smart control of the system with energy savings and maximum efficiency
- A new LED lighting system
- New safety systems, including new fire alarm and security systems
- Facade enhancements
- Garden restoration and upgrades
- A booster antenna to extend our outdoor wireless internet signal to reach up to 300 feet
- ADA upgrades
The gut renovated, reconfigured interior space features:
- New furniture
- New shelving
- Interior wall mural
- New book collections
- All new finishes throughout the building
- A large community room and meeting room
- All new tech equipment including all-in-one HP desktop computers and laptops
The enhanced exterior spaces feature:
- ADA improvements
- New shrubs and trees including native plants and evergreens to ensure year-round beauty
- A layout that allows for more flexible outdoor programming
