Branch History
First opened in 1951 in a Nostrand Avenue storefront, Kings Bay Library resides within a micro-neighborhood in the Sheepshead Bay area. In 1959, the branch moved across the street to its current, larger home.
In March of 1999, a ribbon-cutting ceremony commemorated the reopening of the renovated Kings Bay Library. The branch’s cellar-to-attic renovation included improvements to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Kings Bay Library collaborates regularly with Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORC) and the Visiting Nurse Service of New York. NORC provides several programs for the library, including health presentations, blood pressure screenings and more.
