- Who can participate?
Current BPL cardholders aged 13 and up can participate by using the referral link from their My Account page to invite friends. Expired cardholders must first renew their account in order to refer a friend. Books Unbanned cardholders are not able to participate.
- How do I get credits for friends I invite?
After you send a friend your unique referral link, if the friend uses that link and completes the BPL card application before the promotion ends, you will automatically get credit toward a thank-you gift (note that to complete the application, they must be eligible for a BPL card).
Only signups that are completed before the promotion ends (on April 30 or while supplies last) will count toward you earning a thank-you gift.
- It looks like I earned a gift! How do I get it?
At the end of the promotion period, your My Account page will display your final gift tally and instructions for redeeming the gift(s) you earned from BPL’s online shop. We will mail you the gift(s) free of charge to the U.S. shipping address you provide at that time.
- When will the promotion period end?
The promotion ends on April 30, 2026, or while supplies last. We will update this page to let people know as soon as the promotion has ended.
- My card is expired. Can I still participate?
You will need to renew your card first. Learn more about how to renew here. Immediately after your renewal is complete, you will be able to log into My Account and get your referral link to start inviting friends.
- If I get a new card myself during this promotion, can I participate?
Yes! As soon as you have a BPL card, you should be able to log into My Account and get your referral link to start inviting friends.
- My friend who I invited already has a card that's expired. If they renew their card, do I get credit for that?
No, only new applications count for this promotion. But we are thrilled when anyone renews their library card, and once they renew it means that they can start inviting friends too!
Any creation of duplicate accounts or use of AI tools or bots to create an application is not permitted. Any submission in violation of this rule will be disqualified from the Invite-a-Friend program.
