Alice Degener: Never Enough Nathan’s - A Survey of South Brooklyn Landscapes

to
Coney Island Library

Opening Reception: Saturday, June 3, 1–4 pm

Alicia Degener is a NYC landscape painter focused on the terrain of Southern Brooklyn, particularly Coney Island and its quintessential landmarks. A longtime resident of Bay Ridge, Degener explores the relationship between the natural world of beautiful tree-lined blocks with two-family homes and startling sunsets.

Degener’s fresh outlook draws viewers into her paintings with a wonky sense of perspective that creates visual movement. Text and imagery found on street signs give her work an ironic, often humorous underlying narrative. From large murals to small works, she uses a variety of media including pastel, oil, acrylic and watercolor.
