Future 101 was developed by Brooklyn Public Library in partnership with The Opportunity Network to help teens thrive. Programs will focus on the skills and ideas that help you succeed in the classroom; build a career; and discover what drives your passion. Get ready for what’s next in Future 101!

How do you adapt your learning skills to best serve you? Understand individual learning styles and how to tailor your own study skills accordingly. Learn new note-taking techniques for the college environment and understand how to adjust your academic habits to meet new expectations in college.

How do you put your best foot forward on paper? Understand the concept and purpose of a resume, and learn the format and tips to follow when creating your own. Assess your talents and experience to create a standout resume that highlights your strengths in a professional way.

 

Marketing Your Assets

How do you make a strong first impression when meeting someone new? Find out about the importance of marketing yourself when making professional connections. Identify examples and evidence of your particular skillsets, and create a personal “elevator pitch” to make a concise introduction.

 

Intro to Networking

How and why do people network? Learn this important college and career-building skill, then get help figuring out who is in your network already! Create your own network map and develop skills for building connections for the future.
