Moscow born, Nina Kossman is a painter, sculptor, bilingual writer, poet, translator of Russian poetry, and playwright. Her English short stories and poems have been published in American, Canadian, British, and Dutch literary journals. Her Russian prose and poems have been published in major Russian literary journals, such as Volga, Znamia, Ural, etc. Among her published books are two books of poems in Russian and English as well as two volumes of translations of Marina Tsvetaeva's poems, In the Inmost Hour of the Soul and Poem of the End. Her other books include Behind the Border (HarperCollins,1994), a collection of stories about her Moscow childhood; Gods and Mortals: Modern Poems on Classical Myths (Oxford University Press anthology, 2001); a collection of short stories about her teaching; and “Queen of the Jews”, a novel originally published in English and translated into Russian. She lives in New York.

Нина Косман (Nina Kossman) – американская писательница российского происхождения. Стихи и рассказы, написанные на английском, публиковались в США, Канаде, Испании, Голландии, Японии. Пьесы ставились в театрах Нью-Йорка. Изданы две книги английских переводов стихов Марины Цветаевой. Получила UNESCO/PEN Short Story Award в Лондоне за прозу на английском; NEA (National Endowment for the Arts fellowship) в 1999. Составитель антологии "Gods and Mortals" (Oxford University Press, 2001). Живет в Нью-Йорке.

Роман «Царица иудейская» был сначала опубликован на английском языке в Англии под псевдонимом. Действие романа разворачивается в современном Нью-Йорке. Еврейская женщина влюбляется в маляра из Палестины, посланного ее убить. «Мисс Нина, Вы мусульманка?» - сборник рассказов о преподавании автора в нью-йоркской школе для детей из мусульманских семей.
