creative aging jewelry making Virtual Programming

Have you ever Crocheted with Wire and Beads? This class will teach how easy it is to crochet, shape, and twist the wire with beads to create and design unique creations. You will need a crochet hook, wire, beads, and jewelry-making tools to get started. You will also learn how to create beads from wire and various recycled materials to add to your necklace, earrings, or bracelet. This project is excellent for repurposing beads from an old necklace you might want to take apart. If you need to purchase beads, shopping can be fun, and you can select colors that work with your wardrobe. Let me warn you that this jewelry-making technique can be quite addictive. After you make your first necklace, you will want to make more. Be ready when your friends see you wearing your necklace; they will ask you to make one for them!

Session 1: Slide presentation of the suggested projects and supplies needed. Information regarding where to purchase the supplies, substitutions for suggested supplies and the optional supplies. Any concerns or questions will be addressed.

Session 2: Demonstration on “Making Bead Soup” this is the process of gathering your beads in pleasing colorways to start the designing process. Demonstration on laying out your assorted beads on a Bead Mat or a Bead Design Tray.

Session 3: Presentation of all the participants’ examples of their “Bead Soup” & their assorted Bead Layout.

Session 4: Demonstration on process of adding the Beads on the Wire & Crocheting 3 strands for the necklace and finishing techniques.

Session 5: Presentation of all the participants’ Crocheted Beaded Strands.

Session 6: Demonstration on the process of creating your own handmade beads with Leather and Paper to be added to your crochet necklace.  A surprise optional technique will be presented.
