Come to Paerdegat Library to celebrate the 200th anniversary of Walt Whitman's birth!

This program is designed for all adults, with and without disabilities.

In this interactive workshop series, instructor Christine Lipner will teach participants about the history of Brooklyn. Each workshop will focus on a different aspect of life during Walt Whitman's time.  It will include comparisons with contemporary life.

During the final session, the participants will watch excerpts of Walt Whitman's poem, Crossing Brooklyn Ferry in English, French, Creole, Russian, Spanish, Chinese, Italian, Polish and other languages spoken by today's Brooklynites.  They will present their artwork made during session five on May 31, 2019.
