University Open Air: Monologues: Writing and Performing Stories for the Stage
You’ve got a story to tell—and the spotlight is all yours.
In this empowering, expressive workshop, we’ll explore the art of writing and performing monologues—dramatic stories told by one person. Whether you’re writing from your own experience or creating a character with something to say, this class will guide you from the page to the stage.
In this workshop, we’ll:
- Look at powerful monologues from theater, film, and solo performance.
- Explore what makes a voice captivating—urgency, honesty, rhythm.
- Write a short monologue about something that matters deeply.
- Practice performing with feeling, presence, and joy.
Come with a notebook, an open heart, and a willingness to take up space.
