Four-Part Cypher Series with Toni Blackman
Join us for an engaging and interactive series!
No prior knowledge is required—just bring an open mind and be ready to dive into the fun! Each session will feature these core elements: opening circle & grounding exercise, Wordplay exercises & freestyle/improv games, Toni’s signature Cypher workshop, group cypher practice, and a closing circle.
Feel free to attend all four sessions or pick the ones that interest you most!
Session Three:
Toni Blackman, the first U.S. Hip Hop ambassador, has performed globally at prestigious venues like Carnegie Hall and the UN, and is a pioneer in Hip Hop theater, education, diplomacy and spirituality.  This Echoing Green Fellow Alum founded Rhyme Like a Girl and The Freestyle Union. She's a multi-faceted artist, author of "Wisdom of the Cypher," audiobook releasing late Spring and rap/poetry coach, recently working on the Disney Plus Emmy award winning series, "The Crossover."

Blackman is a dedicated advocate, touring with climate initiatives and creating Hip Hop Meditation Music.  A Howard University graduate, this professional speaker and workshop leader is a bi-continental artist residing between Brooklyn, Dakar and Accra, currently producing “A Woman’s Place is in the Cypher”, a documentary funded by the Big We Foundation’s SheStories grant.

Jerome Jordan, a Brooklyn-born multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, has played and recorded with industry heavyweights like: Mary J. Blige, Wu-Tang Clan, Brand New Heavies, Soul II Soul, Big Pun, Ginuwine, and Mystikal

Jerome has also performed alongside Saul Williams, N'Dea Davenport, Tamar-Kali, The Screaming Headless Torsos, and jazz cellist Nioka Workman, among others. A true genre-blender, his sound is shaped by ’70s soul, rock, ’80s new wave, punk, and hip-hop, making him a force in NYC’s powerhouse music scene.
