On May 7, 1977, the body of Stanisław Pyjas was found in a tenement house at 7 Szewska Street in Krakow. Since then, many myths, conspiracy theories, hypotheses, and hundreds of interpretations of the death of the student and KOR collaborator have arisen. Cezary Łazarewicz decided to fully describe and explain what could have happened several dozen years ago in Krakow.
He meticulously reconstructed the course and background of the investigation – both the one conducted during the communist era and the one resumed in 1991 – into the tragic death of Stanisław Pyjas using protocols and notes from the Security Service, the militia, and the prosecutor's office, as well as accounts and recollections of participants and witnesses of the Krakow events. The author showed the mechanisms of operation and agendas of the state services and authorities, the goals of their superiors, and the motivations of recruited collaborators. He portrayed members of the student liberation movement and followed their later fate. "Na Szewskiej. The Case of Stanisław Pyjas" is also a story of a great friendship that was confronted with an incomprehensible betrayal.
