During Pride Month 2021, join educators from the Center for Brooklyn History and Brooklyn Museum for a two day virtual workshop for educators centered on LGBTQ arts and activism. We’ll explore how LGBTQ artists and activists have resisted marginalization by organizing around issues such as HIV/AIDS, racial equity, and fair housing; challenging the status quo and presenting radical visions of queer liberation

In the first workshop, on June 8th, 5-6:30 PM, hear from panelists Lola Flash- a photographer and educator whose work has long challenged stereotypes about gender and sexuality and was active in the ACT UP movement- and Timothy DuWhite, a queer activist, poet, and actor as they discuss their art and the evolving nature of queer resistance

In the second workshop, on June 9th, 5-6:30 PM, educators will partake in hands on activities led by Center for Brooklyn History and Brooklyn Museum educators that will model how to engage students in the event’s themes and create more inclusive classrooms.

Each session is eligible for 1.5 CTLE credits, with a maximum of 3 CTLE credits for interested participants who attend both sessions.
