The longest professional baseball game ever played began at 8:25pm on April 18th, 1981. The minor league game between the Rochester Red Wings and the Pawtucket Red Sox was tied 2-2 when play was suspended in the 32nd inning at 4:07am. Pawtucket finally won 3-2 in the 33rd inning when the game was resumed on June 23rd.
