Newspaper accounts and new publications warn us about the decline of American power on the global stage as China continues to expand its global foot print. Indeed, for the first time in more than two centuries, the Euro-American dominance in the world is fading as the economic and geopolitical power of Asia is rising. How should we think about the contemporary power dynamics in Asia in the context of their millennial cultures? What are the implications of this power shift on the global stage? With Howard French, Jiayang Fan and Arthur Kroeber.
Dr. Vishakha N. Desai brings together scholars, writers, artists and activists to spark new thinking about rise of Asia and its implications for the world. Designed to explore timely issues from a broader historical and cultural perspectives, the focus is on the rise of China, perceptions and misperceptions of Muslim cultures, issues of rising wealth in Asia, and the role of Asian Americans in redefining cultures.
