ReelAbilities Film Festival: Concerto for Other Hands
David dreams of becoming a pianist like his father, José Luis, but he must navigate physical challenges to pursue his passion. With short arms, hands with four fingers, and limited hearing, he develops his own way of playing, determined to prove that music has no single path. As he refines his technique, his journey becomes one of resilience and creativity, deepening his bond with his father. Together, they push past doubt and embrace new ways to express themselves through music. Their dedication leads to David’s biggest challenge yet: premiering a concerto his father composed just for him. More than a test of skill, his performance is a testament to perseverance and artistry. Through determination and heart, David redefines what is possible, proving that music is shaped not by limitations, but by passion.
The screening will be followed by a Q and A with director Ernesto González Díaz.
