Raising Antiracist Kids #3: A Workshop Series
As parents of young children, Tabitha St. Bernard-Jacobs and Adam St. Bernard Jacobs will share what they have learned on their journey that is focused on having an antiracist family, with other parents and caregivers. These three workshops will cover the components of an antiracist family, the need for a deep commitment to unlearning and learning about systemic racism, the importance of a multifaceted approach to this journey, how to move from learning to action and how to find joy in liberation. They will delve into how to have tough but essential conversations with children around race and privilege that leads to action for the whole family and how to move past discomfort around these conversations.

WORKSHOP #3
This workshop will focus on gaining the confidence to have these conversations and how to seek out opportunities to address race. This will touch on some common opportunities that parents and caregivers can use as entry points for important conversations, including curating your child’s media diet to center experiences of people of color. We will also delve into guideposts around talking to kids about:
- Colorism and white privilege
- Police violence and current issues
- Racist systems
- Providing conversation jump-off points for kids and adults based on this workshop’s focus
(you may come to any workshop in the series, just two, or all three)
