Quincy Troupe on Miles and Me
Noted photographer Anthony Barboza leads an on-stage discussion with poet, activist, and journalist Quincy Troupe about his newly re-issued memoir, Miles and Me, a candid account of his friendship with Miles Davis and an engrossing chronicle of the author's own artistic and personal growth. Barboza and Troupe became part of a small circle that Davis trusted; Barboza as a portraitist and Troupe as a co-author of the great musician’s autobiography. The two will discuss the sometimes harrowing processes of Davis's spectacular creativity and the joys and travails Davis's passionate and contradictory temperament posed to the men's friendship.
