Plaza Swing Series: Harlem Blues and Jazz Band
Founded in 1973 by King Oliver's trombonist/blues singer Clyde Bernhardt and jazz aficionado Al Vollmer, HBJB is dedicated to keeping the significant side-men of the Classic Jazz Period working and not forgotten. One of the longest continually performing jazz groups in existence, they have a combined 500 years of performing experience and their roots reach to the 1920s and ‘30s. Dance lessons are at 6:30, band starts at 7 pm. In case of rain, the event will be held on Thursday, July 6.
The Plaza Swing Series is made possible with the generous support of Sandra and Peter Schubert and with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature.
