Planning for the Future: Wills, Powers of Attorney, and Other Advance Directives for Older Adults
Thinking about what will happen if you become sick or pass away is a difficult topic for most people. Planning ahead ensures that your wishes are clear, and that they are carried out by the people you trust the most. This presentation will give an overview of financial, legal, and health care documents needed to be prepared for life’s emergencies. We will discuss Last Will and Testament, Powers of Attorneys, and Health Care Proxies. Come learn why they are needed and how to complete them.
The VOLS Senior Law Project [logo pictured] helps eligible low-income seniors who live in New York City and are age 60+ obtain wills and advance directives (power of attorney, health care proxy, living will, and control of remains) free of charge along with our law firm partners.
Registration Required. Zoom link will be sent by 10am the morning of the program.
Services for Older Adults is partially funded by Coordinated Outreach Library Services aid from the New York State Education Department, administered by the State Library’s Division of Library Development. All programs are sponsored by Brooklyn Public Library’s Department of Outreach Services.
