Photo Zine Workshop
This workshop, led by Cindy Trinh, will explore ways in which photographers can create their own booklet to showcase their work. These booklets are also known as “zines” – a self-published, non commercial print work that is typically produced in small, limited batches. Zines are created and bound usually by photocopying, folding, and stapling the pages. People who create zines are motivated by self-expression and artistic passion, it is a great way to have photography published to share with family, friends, and photo enthusiasts. Zines have served as a powerful outlet for content that is outside of the mainstream and less traditional forms of publication. Zines can be produced with the simplest of tools and easily distributed to the public, outside of capitalist structures and systems. It is a safe, independent platform of expression for underrepresented and marginalized voices, such as: Black, Indigenous and People of Color, young folks, disabled people, the LGBTQIA+ community, and people with limited economic resources.
This workshop will be family friendly and welcome adults, teens, and children. Attendees are encouraged to bring their laptops, digital files, or printed photos.
Space in this workshop is limited and registration is required.
