Philosophy Discussion Group: Euthyphro
adult learning
philosophy in the library
In July, the Philosophy Discussion Group continues our project of studying the history of philosophy, from the beginning. We are currently reading the works of Plato, following the order of the dialogues as they are presented in John Cooper's compendium, The Complete Plato.
On July 31, we will discuss Plato's Euthyphro, a dialogue in which Socrates exhorts Euthyphro to define "piety".

Recommended Reading:
"Euthyphro," translated by G.M.A. Grube, pp1-17 from The Complete Plato, edited by John M. Cooper, 1997.
Print copies of this reading are available at the Central Library 2nd Floor SST Desk.

All interested parties are welcome to join us; no previous philosophical background is required. All persons are expected to uphold a code of conduct during the discussion, the rules of which are made available at every meeting. If you would prefer a .pdf copy of the reading, or if you have any additional questions about the program, contact bplphilosophy@gmail.com.
