Central Library, Plaza

Apple Bank BPL Outdoors creative aging

Come out for Services for Older Adults' eighth annual Older Adults Celebration Fair from 10 am – 3 pm on Central Library's Plaza (inside the Grand Lobby in case of rain).  No registration required!

This year’s theme is “Powered by Connections”, which recognizes the profound impact that meaningful relationships and social connections have on our health and well-being. We will explore the vital role that connectedness plays in supporting independence and aging in place by combatting isolation, loneliness, and other issues.  We are also celebrating “50 Years of BPL’s Services for Older Adults!"

Please join us for the free festivities, demonstrations, music, dance, artists, vendors, snacks, giveaways and more!  Elected officials and the Chief Librarian are scheduled to give opening remarks, and we will recognize the Library's older adult of the year, Sharon Lyons.  Older adults can participate in art workshops; enjoy an older adult choir; discover BPL programs just for them; and dance the afternoon away.  Please share this information with your older adult friends and family and we'll see you out in the sunshine Friday!

Everyone is welcome!  Masks encouraged.

The 2024 Older American Celebration Fair is made possible by Apple Bank.  Older Adult programming and services at Brooklyn Public Library are also generously supported by The Sills Family Foundation; the New York Community Trust; the Eisner Foundation; and Apple Bank, celebrating over 25 years in Brooklyn and over 160 years of neighborhood banking in greater New York; and BPL Friends Groups, Private Funders, and Volunteers.
